Give, Grow, Laugh

Have you heard of the saying “Live Love Laugh?”  They even have a Live Love Laugh store.  Amazing.  I’d like to alter that today to GIVE GROW LAUGH.  Because it is through the art of Giving that an amazing thing happens – we learn and we grow.  We learn how to help others and how that makes us feel. We learn from who we’re helping, in ways we never thought of.  We learn how to be better people.

I googled Learning to give and found a number of hits, from a foundation that helps philanthropists (learningbygiving.org) to the learning to give organization that “teaches giving, civic engagement and character through service learning”  (www.learningtogive.org)  Having been a trendsetter myself in service learning, I can only begin to describe the number of ways people gain by giving of themselves to organizations that need the skills, abilities and talents many workers have and want to develop. What a great way to develop and hone those talents OFF the job so that you can be more effective and successful ON the job.   At the same time, you’re providing valuable services to others.  But why laughter?

“Research has shown that the health benefits of laughter are far-ranging. While more studies need to be done, studies so far have shown that laughter can help relieve pain, bring greater happiness, and even increase immunity” according to Elizabeth Scott http://stress.about.com/od/stresshealth/a/laughter.htm

So my message today is find new ways to Give of yourself, Grow yourself, and to do it with a smile and some Laughter.  You’ll feel better and so will others.
